When building firefox from source, I only set the GIO and OPTIMIZED_CFLAGS options to ON. All other options were set to OFF. You could try using Profile Guided Optimizations, but it will make the build a lot slower. Do you have plugins (not add-ons) like java or flash installed? Try disabling those.
