booted up again


and
the following messages appeared after those mentioned


below:


   :psmintr: reset the mouse
   psm0: the aux port is not functioning (255)
   the aux device has gone: (reinitialize)

Think I'd better find a mechanic.

below was:


   psmintr: delay too long; resetting byte count
   psmintr: out of sync (00c0 !=0000).
   discard a byte (1).

BTW, I am running FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE.
Any advice here is appreciated.  Thanks.




I was able to borrow a mouse from my job for testing purposes and it seems to work just fine. Looks like a new mouse is the answer.
