Granted it took ~2 DAYS! to compile on an 750 xeon.

I was thinking about going that route to get it myself but decide to download the binary and just install it that way. I've been playing with StarOffice and decided to take a look at OOo.
I don't know what the advantage would be to have my system compile it.
