I booted the DVD to Fixit and used fdisk. The output is below. It looks like, if I want to use ataraid, I install to ad4 and leave ad6 alone.
Correct? I think I will try ataraid and see what happens. To use gmirror, I do the same, correct? tomdean Fixit# fdisk ad4 ******* Working on device /dev/ad4 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=1240341 heads=16 sectors/track=63 (1008 blks/cyl) Figures below won't work with BIOS for partitions not in cyl 1 parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=1240341 heads=16 sectors/track=63 (1008 blks/cyl) Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: sysid 7 (0x07),(NTFS, OS/2 HPFS, QNX-2 (16 bit) or Advanced UNIX) start 2048, size 407552 (199 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 0/ head 32/ sector 33; end: cyl 25/ head 126/ sector 37 The data for partition 2 is: sysid 7 (0x07),(NTFS, OS/2 HPFS, QNX-2 (16 bit) or Advanced UNIX) start 409600, size 2461452288 (1201881 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 25/ head 126/ sector 38; end: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63 The data for partition 3 is: sysid 7 (0x07),(NTFS, OS/2 HPFS, QNX-2 (16 bit) or Advanced UNIX) start 2461861888, size 38447104 (18773 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63; end: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63 The data for partition 4 is: sysid 12 (0x0c),(DOS or Windows 95 with 32 bit FAT (LBA)) start 2500308992, size 206848 (101 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63; end: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63 Fixit# disklabel ad4s1 disklabel: /dev/ad4s1: no valid label found Fixit# fdisk ad6 ******* Working on device /dev/ad6 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=1240341 heads=16 sectors/track=63 (1008 blks/cyl) Figures below won't work with BIOS for partitions not in cyl 1 parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=1240341 heads=16 sectors/track=63 (1008 blks/cyl) fdisk: invalid fdisk partition table found Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: sysid 165 (0xa5),(FreeBSD/NetBSD/386BSD) start 63, size 1250263665 (610480 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 0/ head 1/ sector 1; end: cyl 276/ head 15/ sector 63 The data for partition 2 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 3 is: <UNUSED> The data for partition 4 is: <UNUSED> Fixit# fdisk ar0 ******* Working on device /dev/ar0 ******* parameters extracted from in-core disklabel are: cylinders=155650 heads=255 sectors/track=63 (16065 blks/cyl) Figures below won't work with BIOS for partitions not in cyl 1 parameters to be used for BIOS calculations are: cylinders=155650 heads=255 sectors/track=63 (16065 blks/cyl) Media sector size is 512 Warning: BIOS sector numbering starts with sector 1 Information from DOS bootblock is: The data for partition 1 is: sysid 7 (0x07),(NTFS, OS/2 HPFS, QNX-2 (16 bit) or Advanced UNIX) start 2048, size 407552 (199 Meg), flag 80 (active) beg: cyl 0/ head 32/ sector 33; end: cyl 25/ head 126/ sector 37 The data for partition 2 is: sysid 7 (0x07),(NTFS, OS/2 HPFS, QNX-2 (16 bit) or Advanced UNIX) start 409600, size 2461452288 (1201881 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 25/ head 126/ sector 38; end: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63 The data for partition 3 is: sysid 7 (0x07),(NTFS, OS/2 HPFS, QNX-2 (16 bit) or Advanced UNIX) start 2461861888, size 38447104 (18773 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63; end: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63 The data for partition 4 is: sysid 12 (0x0c),(DOS or Windows 95 with 32 bit FAT (LBA)) start 2500308992, size 206848 (101 Meg), flag 0 beg: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63; end: cyl 1023/ head 254/ sector 63 _______________________________________________ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-questions-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
