No HPC users means no demand means no incentive to do something about it means no HPC users ad infinitum. But I'm sure you're already knew that.
There are some other "problems" (please note that i don't follow the -current nor -kernel lists)
a) Who knows how to implement Kernel Mode Settings for this? b) Are KMS drivers desirable in FreeBSD? c) Is it in the roadmap for FreeBSD9 or 8.x? d) Anyone wants to do the work?
