The IP address of your server resolves fine now. It was probably just a temporary DNS outage. > What exactly does this mean, and how can I fix it? I don't want my > mail server to be crippled in this manner. The FreeBSD.org mail server, in an effort to stop some spammers, requires that hosts mailing through it have both a forward and reverse DNS lookup that works (host -> ip address and address -> host). When your message was received, it failed to resolve your IP address [65.61.155.146] properly, and rejected the post. Now it should work fine. hub.freebsd.org below is the primary MX for the FreeBSD.org domain: : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:10]/home/keramida$ hostname : hub.freebsd.org : : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:09]/home/keramida$ host 65.61.155.146 : 146.155.61.65.IN-ADDR.ARPA domain name pointer rackspace.mqtweb.com : : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:10]/home/keramida$ host rackspace.mqtweb.com : rackspace.mqtweb.com is a nickname for mqtweb.com : mqtweb.com has address 65.61.155.146 : mqtweb.com mail is handled (pri=10) by mail.mqtweb.com - - Giorgos -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQE+do9c1g+UGjGGA7YRAqXEAJ9x8UD4lzqmqV4CM1bgbxcbY9v4ZQCfcaL4 rvuNRZ9ccOk00fCuekoCtdM= =WNMt -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
