Does the OP have a friend or co-worker who has broasband access? Would his ISP be willing to do this (and perhaps burn the CD) for a small fee? And yes, ftp is a better choice; while fewer every year, there are still a lot of mail {user, transfer} agents that will choke on a 600 mb attachment. Also: crude calculations suggest this will monopolize his phone line for over a day .... (I'd send him my out-of-date (6.* and early 7.*) CDs, but a) the postage would be huge and b) they'd probably get mauled by U.S. postal inspectors.)
