If you want to transfer dumps, netcat (nc) is the fastest way to go. I guess it doesn't come with OS X, since it is available from macports or darwinports. I was able to saturate the 10 Mbit connection between a laptop and a desktop when transferring a dump file. :-) Of course you can also pipe the dump output directly to netcat, but in that case the speed of the dump is the bottleneck.
