Basically:

# su
# cd
# Xorg -configure
# mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# echo poedit > .xinitrc
# startx

Here you go...
(You might want to use a windowmanager though to be able to resice the poedit window to your needs....)
