I have two Dell SC430s with integrated Broadcom gigabit (bge) and they have worked fine with 6.0 thru 6.2 for over a year now. Perhaps it's some incompatibility with the switch or hub you're connecting them to? Maybe try forcing them to half-duplex, or swap switches?
