Well, for one thing, you never have 305GB. 1024MB = 1GB. You only had 298GB UNFORMATTED. Formatted, you had 289GB. With 8% reserve, you're down to 266GB. Remember the 2MB floppies? 2,000,000 bytes = 1.907MB UNFORMATTED. 1.44 MB formatted. Same principle applies to all disks.
