You don't actually list the nic in /etc/hosts. Although not absolutely necessary, you can list the IP address of rl1, along with the hostname the box is known on *that* subnet. As long as the IP addrs resolve in DNS, and routing is enabled on the box, it should all work just fine. Hope this helps.
