and 3 others. What does your boot.ini look like.

Kent
My boot.ini looks like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professinal" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
c:\boot1="FreeBSD"

The only difference is I called it bootsect.bsd to make it look like everything else. Could you have somehow copied it badly. I always have a machine running and did a binary ftp to the local machine and then renamed to to the *.bsd.

Kent

I don't see what could have gone wrong with the copying. I tried a couple of times.

Thank you for that link, the problem described there is in a way similar to mine. Unfortunately the problem was fixed by updating the bios, and i already have the latest version (A04) for my laptop (Dell Precision M70).
