Thanks this is good info.

I'll be using this server for development of a Ruby on Rails.

Currently I do development on a Mac.

My production server is running freeBSD 5.3

I want a development environment which is closer to production
than my Mac is.

You probably don't want 5.3 as it will be EOL'd in a few months.  For
