FreeBSD will occasionally release security advisories detailing the badness surrounding a single package and will often include the following as the solution:
1) Upgrade your vulnerable system to 4-STABLE, 5-STABLE, or 6-STABLE, or to the RELENG_6_0, RELENG_5_4, RELENG_5_3, RELENG_4_11, or RELENG_4_10 security branch dated after the correction date. What does this mean? And how do I do it? The current output of "uname -a" on my machine right now is: FreeBSD <hostname> 5.3-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE #0: Wed Nov 30 16:39:45 EST 2005 <user>@<hostname>:/usr/src/sys/i386/compile/<hostname> i386 Does 5.3-RELEASE == 5-STABLE? Why are security advisories not reported by way of portaudit? Any help would be very much appreciated. -- Thanks be to God that gave me stubborness when I know I am right. - John Adams _______________________________________________ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
