The is the problem of the imap mailboxes. How can I syncronize them

I as thinking to cyrus imapd or dovecot as imap server, but anyway
20.000 mailboxes are really huge...
And with cyrus imapd is impossible to achieve a real fail over system
even using cyrus murder.
I am not an expert on this but you should be able to run multiple
dovecot or courier-imap servers across multiple machines accessing a
central filesystem using maildir format. maildir is designed for
multiple access etc.
