...specificly, you probably want:
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/6.0/6.0-RELEASE-i386-disc1.iso
2) Why is the website wrong?
DNS not working right for you, perhaps?
Bad proxy? Path MTU lossage? PEBCAK? :-)
