Hi Steve, I meant I changed the rc.conf to what you had exepected me to do.
I changed the enteries without # ( # means a comment in rc.conf I suppose ) The server came up fine when the old netmask was restored. So basically the server didn't come up online after the reboot because of the wrong netmask.
