/var/log/messages for hints on why
Same error on that file.
/etc/hosts.allow may be the culprit
The machines were setup with hosts.allow, but I am connecting from the same machine using a different user.
Perhaps the uid in question has an invalid shell?
That doesn't seem to be the problem either.
From the user I was able to login I did su to my ID and that worked.
