Packages are only being built for default X - that is for XFree86 on FreeBSD 4.x and for Xorg on FreeBSD 5.x. If you want XFree86-4 you will need to build it from ports and set X_WINDOW_SYSTEM knob appropriately (see FAQ: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/faq/x.html#XFREE86-VERSION). What kind of problem do you have with keyboard?
