Well, there is a [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list, with
archives at
http://docs.freebsd.org/mail/current/freebsd-firewire.html,
http://docs.freebsd.org/mail/archive/2002/freebsd-firewire/ etc., and
this little nugget in
http://www.freebsd.org/news/status/report-july-2002-aug-2002.html:

Firewire support has been imported into the main tree, and
substantial cleanup of the ACPI/legacy PCI code is also in the
    works.

So, the answer is "Yes". However, it looks like it's only officially
in 5-CURRENT for the time being. You can download patches for 4.x if
you're feeling adventurous. Start with:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/dev/firewire/00README?rev=1.1&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup

        Cheers,

        Matthew
