Hi all!
General question: Does anyone know how to upgrade a port when the latest sources are available on the net, but haven't made it into the ports tree yet? Example: I need to rebuild mod_php4 (for Apache2) from the latest sources, because of a bug that (among other things) causes the file_exists function in php 4.2.3 to work incorrectly. The bug has been fixed in the latest sources, but these are (as far as I can tell) not in the FreeBSD ports tree yet. Is there some manual way to do it that does not require me to be an experienced programmer? I tried renaming the source tarball to that of the old one, and build with NO_CHECKSUM=yes (and WITH_APACHE2=yes), but the thing blew up complaining about patches that failed to apply cleanly. BTW: I know about portupgrade, but I guess it's not relevant here. Thanks for your kind help!
