Found that my certificates had expired overnight and a little digging turned up why: per hier(1), the conf file is under /usr/local
/usr/local/etc/nginx/nginx.conf I hate to make a symlink to resolve this if there is a cleaner way: can certbot be directed to look in /usr/local/etc instead of /etc? Thanks. #### Cert is due for renewal, auto-renewing... Could not choose appropriate plugin: The requested uto plugin does not appear to be installed Attempting to renew cert (paulbeard.org) from /usr/local/etc/letsencrypt/renewal/paulbeard.org.conf produced an unexpected error: The requested uto plugin does not appear to be installed.
