Could you please rebuild x11-servers/xorg-server and
x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati like this:
make WITH_DEBUG=1 all deinstall install
Then, run Xorg from gdb (pkg install gdb) as root:
gdb78 /usr/local/bin/Xorg
At the "(gdb)" prompt, you can type the "r" command to execute Xorg. gdb
will tell you if Xorg crashed or terminated normally.
If it crashed, run the "bt" command at the (gdb) prompt and post your
whole gdb session.
