I tried now the procedure on a FreeBSD 9.2-STABLE notebook, whose OS is compiled with LLVM/CLANG. On that system, I face the same problems with the CUPS 1.7.1 as reported before. I tried to bump up HPLIP to the most recent available version hplip-3.14.4, but I also face the problems.
