I can't really say. The essential code -- the new solver -- has been committed to the Github master branch. But there's a lot of work to do yet to bed that in properly and debug any problems. We did at one point mutter about making a new branch about every three months or so, which would put 1.3 release sometime in March. But that's way too early IMHO. "When it's ready."
