Works for me in both cases:
=> lynx2.8.8dev.8.tar.bz2 doesn't seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles/.

=> lynx2.8.7rel.1.tar.bz2 doesn't seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles/.

lynx2.8.7rel.1.tar.bz2 100% of 2375 kB 162 kBps 00m00s
Wild guess - firewall blocking ftp connections?
