This also happens if you install boost instead of boost-python... if
you install boost with -WITH_PYTHON it works fine.... what is the
reason for boost-python instead of boost?

I had boost installed. Miro complained about it, so I installed boost-phyton.

Because you didn't install boost with WITH_PYTHON=yes. Miro requires boost with python support.
