I'm afraid you're supposed to tell me if adding USE_GCC works :) I'd much prefer fixing the port to compile with gcc42 than forcing old GCC on users - GCC is 40MB download. It's probably something trivial, anyway. Removing >/dev/null from the Makefiles will be a good first step to figure it out.
