Oh, worse.  If you don't build INDEX with your current _installed
system_, it's "useless".  A good number of ports detect installed
things.

Oh, thanks for pointing this out. I completely forgot about this, as
the nail I want to hammer has to do with chrooted pkg-builds, so no
"pollution" is taking place.
