What version of FreeBSD are you running?

I just upgraded to 6.1-RELEASE but the problem still stands. I tried
to do a portupgrade and all appeared to be well until I realised that
it'd ploughed through about 10 packages and managed to destroy
their entries in the package db.

I don't understand how this can have happened.
