I used:

        optval = 1;
        rc = setsockopt (recv_fd, IPPROTO_IPV6, SCTP_I_WANT_MAPPED_V4_ADDR,
                                &optval, sizeof(optval));

FreeBSD 12.1.  Result was "Operation not supported"
