Ok, when it next happens, do this:

sysctl dev.ath.0.forcebstuck=1

.. that forces a stuck beacon event, which resets the NIC. I wonder if the
problem is the NIC is now deaf. I fixed some issues in FreeBSD-HEAD around
noise floor calibration failures which led to NIC deafness, but you won't
even SEE that debugging unless you've compiled a custom kernel with the
above options.

Please let me know if you need any help compiling up a custom kernel.
