PPP frames carried inside ethernet (i.e. pppoe) are therefore also carried
using synchronous encoding, since ethernet is synchronous.
i stumbled when raspppoe under win9x cannot connect to freebsd's pppoed +
ppp... when i set ppp's speed to synchronous... it connected and i didnt
bother to look at it what went wrong...
