This is substantially incorrect. The code was working fine, until FreeBSD's routing code was changed out from under it, without the person who did the changing maintaining all the other FreeBSD code that touched it, at the same time (ISODE was an integrated component of BSD at the time, but it's routing code was not changed at the same time by the person making the changes elsewhere in the source tree). The change annoyed the piss out of everyone who was using X.25 over packet radio, which also died on the table in the change. Three local amatuer radio gateway systems switched over to using Linux over it, and several of us who had advocated FreeBSD to the club were not at all happy about it (but were unable to do anything, since the new code was too poorly documented at the time).
