They have started that. Via has atleast one auto-mdi/mdi-x nic chip. We'd like it if more companies start doing it but I wouldn't hold my breath. Caveat is that a Netgear auto mdi/mdi-x switch won't allways sync with the fxp0 in my laptop :-( So looks like we are in for another round of auto negotiation that doesn't always work.
