Once the if_xname patch is in, it will be exceedingly simple to add some
code to ether_ifattach to do that if you really want.  You probably
wouldn't get too many objections if it were optional and controled by a
sysctl and/or tuneable.

BTW, I'm amused that Solaris apparely isn't a real UNIX (ge0, hme0). :-)
