G'day, I'm a bit beyond my depth but it seems my problem could well be related. I am presuming you think it is something to do with softupdates? I have tracked stable for over 2 years (starting at 4.1) on this machine and don't have meticulous records, but I think the onset of my system crashes could well be about the time I turned softupdates on for my filesystems.
