Well, having read all of your remarks, I noticed, that emacs' lisp code "browse-url.el" causes the generation of http://www.zdnet.com/zdtv/screensavers/answerstips/story/02c36562c23246242 c00.html instead of http://www.zdnet.com/zdtv/screensavers/answerstips/story/0%2c3656%2c2324624%2 c00.html I fixed that (little) problem on my machine and sent a bug-report.
