The freebsd-hackers mailing list is for people who are working on FreeBSD to discuss technical issues relating to FreeBSD development. That's what the charter says, anyway. Given Frederic's apparent intentions, it's the right list to be subscribing to if you read the charter. The fact that the charter doesn't mention that it's a good idea to have been using FreeBSD and tracking its development for a while before you start trying to contribute isn't his problem and I wasn't trying to make it his. The pointers you gave Frederic were appropriate, make no mistake. I just want to make sure that a genuine apology for what must have been quite an offensive message doesn't get watered down.
