Tijl, thanks for your reply!

So it's simply that gcc doesn't know/accept the
-enable-trivial-auto-var-init-zero-knowing-it-will-be-removed-from-clang flag,
which makes sense.

Why does it compile with gcc?  I've not encountered a lot of C/C++ code these
days that doesn't compile with both gcc and clang...
