Hi, ken, the same was here.
Small hint regarding Ctrl+C method: select that wide strange modal window and press Tab key (to switch focus... possibly you should press Tab several times) and then press Enter. It will disappear. Though I haven't got chance to find the root of the issue because that window has never appeared since then.
