Serial Cables and Ports] states: --- Call-out ports are named /dev/cuauN on FreeBSD versions 10.x and higher and /dev/cuadN on FreeBSD versions 9.x and lower. --- That is not correct. According to release notes the change happened at 8.0-RELEASE [2.2.2 Hardware Support]: https://www.freebsd.org/releases/8.0R/relnotes-detailed.html --- [amd64, i386] The uart(4) driver is now the default driver for serial port devices in favor of the sio(4) driver.
