"(signal: 9, SIGKILL: kill)" -- suggests an out-of-memory (/swap) error
(the MAKE_JOBS_UNSAFE thing is usually not relevant; it refers to the fact that
it's not unusual for upstream makefiles not to be written for correct parallel
operation, so it's often worth trying)
