For the ports that don't support adding compilation flags by setting CFLAGS,
there may be other ways, like a proper configure or make switch. I'm not sure
about jam, but boost-jam had a similar issue of not respecting CXXFLAGS, which
broke runtime on e5500 (powerpc64), fixed in
