That's part of the problem. The port bumped the shared library version, even though it installed ABI-compatible library. Moreover, it bumped it to a new version number that was only 1 higher, almost designed to cause trouble :-) If all OpenSSL-using ports used `-rpath', then this wouldn't be a problem.
