BTW.: Even if this isn't on topic for FreeBSD: AMD has a free tool (maybe not as powerfull as vtune) for download at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/DevelopWithAMD/0,,30_2252_3604,00.html unfortunately it's Windows only (and needs MSVC). But if you need a tool which is able to show you the utilisation of the CPU pipelines and you meet the necessary requirements, it may be of use.
