Suggestion: Make RELNOTES.TXT install from [cdrom] media root to target host [root ?], to make it easier for 4.* to 5 upgraders & testers etc, to do a quick check on what is changed. 70K of space used will save many people time.
It's on the web, (if one is connected when testing), & on the install .iso (if with you & mounted), but installed would be better. /usr/src/release/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/relnotes/common/new.sgml - Doesnt build & install RELNOTES.TXT from a make world, (needs release/Makefile stuff & doc/ &/or ports/ I presume). - Is deep buried, & took far too long to find: EG When searching for rdist clues as per &man.rdist.1; has been retired from the base system, but is still available from &os; Ports Collection as net/44bsd-rdist there were 20+ other files in src/ also referring to rdist. Steve K. wrote (re. rdist): It was removed almost 2 years ago ... But only current people know such things, not 4.* users, as rdist is still in newest release 4.7. So it'd be good to install /RELNOTES.TXT to hard disc. Julian Stacey jhs @ berklix.com Computer Systems Engineer, Unix & Net Consultant, Munich.
