You mean it's impossible to disable lpt/floppy in a pnp system 
and use thier IRQs for anything else unless you remove the drivers
from the kernel?

Why?

Also, is there any system in place so that I can tell a device to
go away?  (one that isn't pccard/cardbus) ?
