        isn't there some issue in getipnodebyname(), instead of getaddrinfo()?
        (NOTE: I'm not really up-to-date with the current status of freebsd4
        lib/libc/net)
        if you can tell me repeatable example of getaddrinfo() failure, 
        that would be helpful...
